Lila Abu-Lughod (author of Veiled Sentiments) and Sarah Tobin (author of Everyday Piety) both discuss the various meanings behind veiling in the places they studied. Summarize these meanings, and compare and contrast them to one another. One thing to consider as you are comparing and contrasting is the following question: is veiling just one small part of a larger set of behaviors that are expected of women, or is it considered to be particularly important?
