Classification is common in both community corrections and within correctional facilities. How an offender is classified can have a number of implications. In making their case in Chapter 7, Gottfredson and Gottfredson cited several studies that have analyzed classification systems in corrections. For this discussion I would like you to locate one of the studies that were cited and provide the rest of the class with an at least five paragraph summary of the findings. After summarizing the study, please provide the class with your opinion on whether classification systems are fair or not. You should use examples from the study that you are summarizing and studies that your peers are summarizing in making your case.
