Central State University International Trade and Ethical Implications Discussion

This week we will look at international trade and some of its ethical implications. For this discussion we will look at companies dumping merchandise that is illegal to sell in the U.S., in other countries.  The article America’s Deadly Exports — Trade Of Toxic Products Abroad Is A Windfall For U.S. Companies states that many U.S. companies sell merchandise in 3rd world countries that are banned in the U.S.

After reading the attached article respond to the following:

1. Why would a company “dump” their products overseas when they have been proven to be harmful? What company or companies have been found dumping?

2. Would the stockholders of these companies (by in large) agree with this practice?

3. Would Americans stop doing business with these companies if they knew what was happening to people in 3rd world countries?

4. Which practice in the article did you find the most despicable?
