In this final project, you will build on Project 1’s key question of “What is it?” and Project 2’s key question of “How does it work?” to address the culminating question “What do you do with it?”

The learning outcomes for this project are:

  • To synthesize information about what constitutes a “discourse community,” the conventions associated with a specific discourse community, and the needs of new participants in the community
  • To design informational and instructive multimedia texts with a specific audience and purpose in mind, and to demonstrate understanding of the needs and expectations of new participants within a specific discourse community
  • To demonstrate an understanding of the generic and unique conventions associated with a specific discourse community
  • To reflect upon personal experiences and apply those experiences to the design and content of a multimedia document
  • Practice the principles that characterize effective use of multiple media for a specific audience and purpose
