Part 1I- Critical thinking and analysis.

Although we will not do any experiments ourselves we will read a research paper which describes many experiments done on the Glycemic index. We will then pretend that we have the important duty of interpreting the results by bringing our knowledge of carbohydrate metabolism to bear in interpreting the information to answer the questions below, and those that I  have sprinkled throughout the article in red.

3. Describe the structure of glycogen paying particular attention to discussing the bonding involved.

4. Where is glycogen stored in the body? In what relative proportions?

5. What is the function of glycogen in the body.

6. How does glycogen metabolism serve to regulate the blood glucose levels and provide a “reservoir” of glucose for strenuous muscle activity?
