MGT 510 Saudi Electronic University Diversification Strategy Case Study

Description

Corporate diversification strategies raise a wide range of strategic management issues. For this week’s critical thinking assignment, read the case study found in your textbook: Case 16: Manchester City: Building a Multinational Soccer Enterprise, p.554 (in the textbook) (attached).

Remember, a case study is a puzzle to be solved, so before reading and answering the specific case and study questions, develop your proposed solution by following these five steps:

  1. Read the case study to identify the key issues and underlying issues. These issues are the principles and concepts of the course module, which apply to the situation described in the case study.
  2. Record the facts from the case study which are relevant to the principles and concepts of the module. The case may have extraneous information not relevant to the current module. Your ability to differentiate between relevant and irrelevant information is an important aspect of case analysis, as it will inform the focus of your answers.
  3. Describe in some detail the actions that would address or correct the situation.
  4. Consider how you would support your solution with examples from experience or current real-life examples or cases from textbooks.
  5. Complete this initial analysis and then read the discussion questions. Typically, you will already have the answers to the questions but with a broader consideration. At this point, you can add the details and/or analytical tools required to solve the case.

Case Study Questions:

  1. Under what circumstances can a company extend its competitive advantage from its home market to an overseas market? Issues concerning the transferability and replicability of the firm’s competitive advantage are critical here.
  2. What are the distinctive features of City Football’s strategy? What mode of foreign market entry should City Football adopt? Why? Again, issues of resources and capabilities and the need for local market knowledge, distribution, and political and business connections become critical here.
  3. What criteria can companies apply in deciding what new diversification to pursue and which should City Football apply in deciding?
  4. What changes in the financial structure, organizational structure and management systems would you recommend?

Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be 6-7 pages in length, which does not include the title page or required reference page, which are never a part of the content minimum requirements.
  • Use Saudi Electronic University academic writing standards and APA style guidelines.
  • Support your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories from the textbook and at least two scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles unless the assignment calls for more.
  • It is strongly encouraged that you submit all assignments into the Turnitin Originality Check before submitting it to your instructor for grading. If you are unsure how to submit an assignment into the Originality Check tool, review the Turnitin Originality Check—Student Guide for step-by-step instructions.

References MUST be 3 to 5 years old. Older references are not accepted. Use the attached Textbook as one of the refernces

You MUST provide 3 to 4 references, only.

Total pages number is 9 pages including title and references pages.

_______________

WRTG 393 students,

Please download the following document. You will refer to this in your discussion answers and responses. It is posted in Content for Week 6 of our class.

CANRIGHT, “White Paper Basics”

Then, please watch the following video. The video takes you through some highlights of the CANRIGHT document.

After watching this video, please peruse the sample white paper linked to in Content for week 5, “Social Robots for Autism.” You will refer to this in your answers and responses to peers.

Please answer the following questions: DO NOT COPY QUESTIONS, number answers.

1. The CANRIGHT document discusses various types of white papers on pages 10-11. As you examine the white paper on autism, what type of white paper would you argue this is, based on the CANRIGHT document information? Support your comments with citations to the document. Use correctly PLACED and FORMATTED APA citations. Review MEAL and PIE paragraphing.

2. What is the best aspect of the white paper on autism, and why do you think so? Please write one or two sentences in giving this answer.

3. Read through the Previous Approaches section. Are there areas that would benefit from more research and more citing of sources? If so, provide two areas in the paper that show this need. Support your recommendations with citations to the writing white papers information in required reading.

4. What grammar errors do you notice in the following text from the executive summary? Make a numbered list; for each write the original, a correction, and note where on the writing handout you can find this information. Here are the types of errors: punctuation, beginning sentence with preposition (as, it, etc), capital letters, vague language needs to be replaced with specific terms (myriad, components, challenges, etc.), contraction/possession (use of apostrophe).

People with autism are characterized as having difficulties with speech and social skills, repetitive behaviors or speech, and heightened sensory sensitivity. As seen below in figure 1, Autism is not just one thing. It is a myriad of components, each exhibiting it’s own set of challenges.

5. Would this white paper benefit from additional graphics? If so, in what part of the paper would you recommend a graphic to help illustrate the point being made? Refer to required readings to support your recommendations.

Please note that you will not be able to see other students’ responses to this discussion topic until you post your response.

You decide to recommend organization-wide changes to resolve the issues related to communication and coordination. You evaluate the organizational change readiness and send a report on change management models, justifying your selection of a particular model.

Your efforts are appreciated and well received by the VP and the leadership team of the software solutions organization. However, they now want to understand how the training development needs of the workforce can be strategically aligned with the organization’s business needs.

You decide to prepare a presentation, detailing the training requirements for the employees and leadership of the U.S. branch, as well as leadership at the Singaporean headquarters. The strategy will target the identification of training that will improve communication and understanding between employees at the U.S. branch and leadership at both locations. Business Dissertation Topic Discussion

Description

Instructions: There are 2 responses. Read each and write a 100 word response for each.

Response 1.) Carter

Thus far, my dissertation topic investigates the relationship between agritourism, social media, and online reviews. I have fairly extensively researched agritourism, tourism in general, online reviews, and agritourism’s association with social media. I am currently deliberating concerning two issues.

The first issue that I am working through relates to the scope of the topic. Agritourism is a catch-all term for a variety of activities including farm stays, on-farm festivals, u-pick direct sales, agriculture classes, farm tours, and weddings. I am debating whether to address agritourism as a whole or to narrow the topic to a specific type of activity. Secondly, I am pondering the scope pertaining to social media and online reviews. Questions that I am considering include:

  • Which social media platforms should be investigated (e.g., Facebook and Pinterest)?
  • Which online review websites should be investigated (e.g., Trip Advisor)?
  • Should customer social media posts be reviewed or just farm social media posts?

The second issue I am considering concerns the type of research to be conducted. I have located an article that discusses a method to analyze customer reviews from TripAdvisor .com; however, I am not supremely confident in my ability to repeat the technique discussed in the article. After all, the article uses a team of experienced researchers.

Response 2.) Kimberly

I feel that I have found a topic that is acceptable but will still work on it with the research that I will gather to further narrow the topic to be more specific.

The topic I have chosen to discuss is the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact that mental health has had on healthcare workers returning to the workplace. I will take into consideration the information that has been included in feedback from everyone. I wish to include information that speaks of the start of COVID-19 and other forms of pandemics that have affected life for people previously and compare it to the recent and still current pandemic. Understanding the progression of how these types of diseases affect people will help understand if there is a pattern of this type of mental health crisis. Knowing mental health is very important in any field, especially in the medical profession, one must be able to help determine how much disease and death affects the mind. The mind is a powerful organ that must be researched to understand how it works when a pandemic changes how life is and will be following such great change that no one was prepared for. Completing this research, I hope to present or at least give insight as to how the mental health of the healthcare worker prepares and manages themselves to handle the outcome of what a pandemic can do to the mental health of the worker and ways to handle it.

North Lake College Different Types of Technical Reports Discussion

Description

DR7: Different Types of Technical Reports

Jake Wobbrok’s paper “Catchy Titles Are Good: But Avoid Being Cute” gives great advice for writing an academic research paper, particularly for the Human Computer Interaction field where he does most of his research.

What advice from Wobbrock’s paper would you change for writing technical reports in a business and professional setting? Choose ONE of the sections in Wobbrock’s paper (Abstract, Introduction, Related Work, etc.) and describe how the advice for this section (and maybe its title or even existence) would be different for a technical report written in a business and professional setting. (Keep your answers short. You do not need to address every piece of advice in the section that you choose.)

THEN “Reply” to a classmate’s DR7 = Collaborative Comment 7

DR8: Graphics in Your Technical Report

After reading the first three pages from Technical Communication Chapter 12: Creating Graphics, you might be thinking about including a graphic in your technical report.

    • What information might a graphic convey in your technical report?
    • What type of graphic might you include and why would you use that type?

(Note: Your technical report does not need to include a graphic, but at least explore the possibility here.)

THEN “Reply” to a classmate’s DR8 = Collaborative Comment 8

DR9: Technical Reports Only for STEM?

As implied by NISO’s “Scientific and Technical Reports” instructional report, technical reports seem to ONLY be used for STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) to investigate number-based problems. But can they be used in other fields, like business, education, or the social sciences (psychology, government)? Explain.

THEN “Reply” to a classmate’s DR9 = Collaborative Comment 9

Reply the below classmate post

Heidi Falcon

DR 7-9

COLLAPSE

DR7:
The “Design of Your Widget” section is explained well in my opinion. For a technical report however I feel changing the title to “Expected Result” or something of the sort would make more sense since it would be explaining the goal you are trying to achieve.

DR8:
* What information might a graphic convey in your technical report?
A graphic could convey statistical information such as percentages to further support a claim being made in the technical report.
* What type of graphic might you include and why would you use that type?
For this you could show a pie chart if the information was only taken in one specific year. If multiple years are shown, it could be a table with different columns to better depict a pattern.

DR9:
I feel that as a student in this class, it would be common sense at this point to say that technical reports could very easily be used for educational purposes. Classes like this and any other technical writing based class that fall under an English minor like mine often require a technical report to be written to test how well we’ve retained instruction on how to write one.
