How do you see your current or past organization?

Topic 2 – Recommendations: Which of the following strategies would you recommend for your organization to adopt or to continue? Why?

Close the communications gap around business benefits.

Tailor communications to different stakeholder groups.

Acknowledge the value of project management, including project management communications.

An acquisition is a situation whereby one firm (acquiring firm) purchases most or all of another firm’s (acquired firm) shares in order to take control.

From real national/international market, select an example of an acquisition between two firms and answer the following questions:

Briefly introduce the chosen acquiring and acquired firms (Industry, activity, nationality, market position, …).

Explain the different reasons for this acquisition. 

Was this acquisition successful? Why?

• Evaluate the competitive advantage of the acquiring company (after the acquisition). 

What is the method used by the acquiring firm to manage the culture of the acquired firm? underline the pros and cons of this method. 

Ethics is related to values and morals of individuals in a society (Northouse, 2022, p. 423). Being ethical means doing the right thing. It is important to mention that values and morals are tied to culture, which can impact what one individual sees as ethical versus unethical.

Ethical leadership is related to the expectations of leaders doing the right thing at the right moment. For this discussion board, please address the following requirements:

1. Define the term “ethics” in your own words.
2. Identify two ethical challenges that leaders often face in the workplace.
3. Analyze how ethical leadership impacts organizational performance.
4. Evaluate the importance of having a “Code of Conduct” or a “Code of Ethics” in the organization.

You will develop a foundational basis around the history and ethics of the field, while also exploring what constitutes public relations in a more modern context. The final project for this course is the creation and evaluation of a public relations campaign for a field or industry of your choice. The final product represents an authentic demonstration of competency because it is common practice to create and evaluate public relations campaigns. The final project focuses on using the four step public relations plan (research, planning, implementation, and evaluation). You will work on each step throughout the course to create a final plan.

This week’s discussion will focus on management decision-making and control in two companies, American corporation Amazon.com, Inc. and Chinese company Alibaba Group Holding Limited.

Decision-making and control are two vital, and often interlinked, functions of international management. Strategic evaluation and control are the processes of determining the effectiveness of a given strategy in achieving the organizational objectives and taking corrective actions whenever required. Control can be exercised through formulation of contingency strategies and a crisis management team.

For your discussion, use the Decision-Making Process (stages 1-9) outlined in the textbook (Fig 11-1) and this Module’s content. Visit the corporate websites of two companies, Amazon and Alibaba, and examine what these firms are doing relating to the strategic evaluation and control process definition in the process above.

For example:

• Stage 1: What is one problem perception for each company?
• Stage 2: What is the problem identification for each company?
• Repeat for stages 3-9.
