The term evidence-based practice began appearing in literature in the 1990s when it was defined as the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individuals, by Sackett and colleagues Nursing Management (Springhouse) September 2019. In the 2000’s Evidence-based Practice was high on political and professional agendas, and nursing literature was abuzz with the term, it eventually was embraced from a system perspective, partly due to requirements from regulatory agencies such as the joint commission and the American Nurses Credential Centers Magnet Recognition Program. In the 21st century, one of the major challenges in healthcare is for practitioners to feel that they can say without a doubt that they use research in their practice and if not, why, according to some studies some nurses claimed the lack of time as a barrier to EBP.
