TCC History Renaissance Essay

Description

Due April 16th- Email to me with your class in the heading (HIS 112) to submit

Your final paper can be on any topic you found interesting within this class. I recommend choosing a specific topic. For instance, rather than the whole Revolution, you would try focusing on how Washington overcame seemingly impossible odds. The guidelines are as follows: {My Topic: The Renaissance, and the effect that Michelangelo and his paintings had on the Renaissance.}

1) Paper should be 5 pages, double spaced. Include your name and class in the heading.

2) Include at least 5 sources in a works cited page (works cited does not count towards the total pages)

3) I am looking for clear grammar (use spellcheck!), accurate information, reliable sources (often these end in .edu or .org) and proper paper structure (introduction with a thesis, body paragraphs, conclusion).

4) This is a research paper so avoid putting your opinion within it and using “my” “me” etc.

5) If you are unfamiliar with a thesis statement, it is what you are proving in your paper. It is always the last sentence of your introduction paragraph. For instance:

“Washington was able to lead the Americans to victory against insurmountable odds due to his military acumen and knack for knowing when to avoid leading his troops into battle.”

THIS IS MY DISSCUSSION BOARD I DID WEEK 1. BUILD UPON THIS TO THE CRITERIA OF THE RESEARCH PAPER.

During the Renaissance, four artists towered over all and help define an area as to what true art is. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo are the trail blazers of the Renaissance. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, commonly known as Michelangelo created one of the most infamous paintings of all time, “The Creation of Adam”. The Creation of Adam was so important to the Renaissance because it summarized the triumph of disegno over the lesser art of colorito. This magnificent body of work (composed fresco) took four years to complete. Completing this painting was so physically taxing, that it permanently damaged Michelangelo’s eyesight! The painting currently resides in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museums, located inside the Vatican City. Creation of Adam is a famous religious moment in the teachings of Christianity. The right arm of God is outstretched to touch the left arm of Adam extended in a pose mirroring God’s, reminding that man is created in the image and likeness of God. God’s imminent touch to Adam would breathe life into him and ultimately will give life to all mankind. It is, therefore, the birth of humans. This religious masterpiece has been more than influential even in today’s day and age. Countless shows, video games, movies, books, memes etc have adapted their own connotation as to what the pictures means or how they would want to use it. One of my favorite movies “Tenacious D and the pick of Destiny” use the picture. The two main characters replace Adam and God, as they embark on a quest of rock and roll epic portions.

Elderly Interview Case Questions

Description

Find a friend, neighbor or relative who is over the age of 70 years of age. Interview your subject about his or her life. I would like you to design your own questionnaire (part of the grade).  Be sure you ask questions about all multiple areas of development.  You may want to read ahead in your textbook for question or topic ideas.  Questions on work, leisure, housing, friends, family and finances are good.  Please keep the financial questions general as the intention is not to make anyone feel uncomfortable.  Any topic that is discussed in the textbook may be included. Please have at least 45 questions and better to have more (questions on name, age etc. do not count toward the 45 questions!!) It will be easier and the interview will go faster if you have questions prepared before you start the interview but be flexible so that if a subject comes up you can follow with relevant questions.  Please number each question. I will deduct points if questions are not numbered.

1.  The first paragraph of your write up should include the interviewee’s, first name, age, marital status, and your relationship to the person followed by a physical description including height, build, hair color, appearance etc.

2.  The second paragraph of your write up should describe the living environment of the individual.  Do they live in a single family dwelling, apartment, nursing home etc?  Do they live by them self or with a spouse or family member? Are there barriers to them living in the home (stairs, dangerous clutter etc.)?

Write the interview in narrative form:

You: What changes have you noticed in your body in the last ten years?

George: Well, I have noticed that I can’t see as well as a use to and I am out of breath more easily when I walk. (etc.)

When you finish your narrative, I would like you to apply the interview to chapter information, considering all areas discussed and dividing the information by subjects in the textbook. Use subheadings.  You must cover a minimum of 3 concepts (terms) per chapter and you must use at least 4 different chapters (your choice).  That means a minimumof 12 concepts!!  Please “bold” the concept names in the body of the paper. I will deduct points if subheadings and bolding of concepts are not included.

At the end, tell me what you learned from this interview about being in late adulthood and the aging process.

Your paper MUST be an attachment – RTF, doc, docx file extension.  No “pages” or “odt” file extensions.

MLA format is not required but please make sure you have an appropriate format for the paper – consistent margins, spacing etc.  And yes, grammar counts.

Also, pay attention when interviewing.  If your interviewee talks about their two siblings DON’T make your next question “how many siblings do you have”.  That is wasting a question and it shows me you aren’t being flexible in your questioning.

BC Critique Inspiration Light in Space Design Discussion

Description

This week you will critique your Project 4: Space designs. To complete your Discussion Board assignment, follow these directions:

Part One

  1. Use the title of your design as the subject of your post.
  2. Attach your Project 4: Space design.
  3. Explain the inspiration behind your design, the media used, and the size of your artwork.
  4. Exception to the rubric: Your original post and each of your classmate critiques should be 100 words in length each.

Part Two

  1. View the designs posted by your classmates.
  2. Actively participate in class critiques by critiquing your classmates’ designs. Your critiques should follow the four-step model of art criticism—description, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. Do not forget to answer the questions that follow that are specific to this project.

    Step One – Description
Describe the artwork or design. Give an objective account of what you see. What media is used? What is the subject of the artwork or design? Describe the artwork as if you are describing it to someone who has never seen it before. If the artwork or design is nonobjective—no recognizable object or subject—it can be difficult to describe. In this situation, you would describe what you see in terms of the elements of art.

    Step Two – Analysis
Analyze the relationships among the formal elements present in the artwork or design—examine the interactions of the elements of art and principles of design. How is it composed? You are becoming more specific and discussing in greater detail what you see in the artwork or design, while still remaining objective.

    Step Three – Interpretation
Interpret what the artwork or design is about and what the artist is trying to say. Your interpretation should be supported by evidence within the work of art or design discovered during the previous two steps.

    Step Four – Evaluation
Make an informed evaluation as to whether or not the artwork or design is a success and if you like the artist’s work. Make some conclusions about why you think the artist made the decisions he/she did. Was the artist successful in his/her use of the elements of art and principles of design? If not, what could the artist have done differently to make the design successful? Evaluate how the artwork or design affects you. How does it make you feel? What is your personal response to the artwork or design? Explain your feelings. What is it about the elements of art and principles of design that contributes to your response? Feel free to express yourself, but do it in a thoughtful manner.

IMPORTANT: For this particular project, is the predominant element space where a variety of objects are portrayed in one- or two-point perspective? Is there a focal point? Is the rule-of-thirds used for placement of the focal point? If so, how? Is the design unified? If so, how? If not, what changes could be made to the design to accomplish these requirements?

Fire My Best Salesperson

Mr. Ibrahim is a deputy sales director for a multinational company operating in the Arab region. He has just been told that his salesperson “Sami” has been stealing from the company by submitting high expense reports and exaggerating his sales volume. Accordingly, he has received higher commissions than he deserved. The accounting department has proved that Sami was stealing. The CEO told Mr. Ibrahim to either correct the situation or he will lose his own job which made him unsure what to do as he neither wanted to lose his own job nor he wanted to lose his best salesperson because it will impact on the company’s sales revenues; which in turn, will reduce the company’s profits. Mr. Ibrahim thought that there might be an explanation for Sami’s behavior.

The HR team told Mr. Ibrahim that Sami must be terminated saying they cannot tolerate theft by its employees. They thought that if they cannot trust a salesperson, it will have a negative effect on all his dealing with customers and coworkers.

Assuming that you are in Mr. Ibrahim’s situation:

1.Would you agree with the HR decision?

2.Is there anything else would have done differently? If yes, what options do you have?

3.How would you convince the CEO to give Sami a second chance employment

Southern New Hampshire University Tampa Demographics Discussion

Description

Review all of the material and content in the lesson. Respond to the following;

  • Identify the demographics per age, gender, income and ethnicity, etc. of your community.
  • Select one of the main struggles, obstacles, or issues related to diversity and tolerance that negatively impact youth in your community.
  • Create a promotional / marketing tool to address this concern and provide education, awareness and potential resources to address the issue. Examples could include: brochure, poster, PR video, blog, website or Facebook page.
  • Please remember that this PR tool is something you create on your own and is your original work.
  • Share your PR tool with the class as an uploaded or attached document, video link, etc.

Respond / provide feedback to at least one of your classmates.

Student’s post that needs a response:

An estimate was created for the demographics of race for 2018 in the Tampa Bay area. These statistics vary between; 11.41% being Black or African American, 0.36% being American Indian, 2.65% Asian, 0.07% Native American, and 2.59% of two or more races. White or Caucasian individuals being 78.91% of the Tampa Bay population. In my community, viewing the Pinellas County zip code range; 78.6% are White, 12.1% are Hispanic, 5.7% are Black, 1.6% are Asian, and 2.2% are Mixed/classified as Other. Recorded in my area; we have more female seniors than male (60+), more female older adults than male (35+), more female younger adults than male (20+), more females in college than male (roughly 20+), but more male children than female (0-14). 301% of household income homes my area are in the 95th Percentile, the lowest being 46.3% in the 20th Percentile.

One of the main obstacles related to diversity that negatively impact youth in my community is racism and stereotyping. Another struggle relating to gender and sexual orientation is the lack of empathy and expressing harsh judgment on our youths LGBTQ+ community. People of color, people of different races or backgrounds, the disabled, gay/lesbian couples, Jewish folk, and more have suffered oppression and stereotypes for too long. If one is not white or does not have lots of money with a nice house and popularity will suffer oppressive consequences just for the way they were born. Children of color face unconscious biases towards them in school, in their neighborhood, at the grocery store, & anywhere.

My educational poster! Here, I’ve created a poster than stands out and will grab the attention of anyone. This poster includes a slogan, link to a website, and graphics that get to the point. www.canva.com provided me with a blank template that helped inspired me to create this poster. The point of this marketing tool was to help others find support or want to help those who have been oppressed.

City College of San Francisco Feminism in King Lear Discussion

Description

!!!!choose one topic!!!

?1?Just about every character in the play undergoes a profound change or series of changes, directly or indirectly, as a result of Lear dividing his kingdom. Closely chart one character’s transformation—describe his/her important qualities when the play started, what events or ideas caused the change, and the extent of the change. Did the character learn from the change or did it destroy him/her or both? What is Shakespeare saying about human nature with this character and/or the impact of the Lear’s division?

?2?Perform a feminist reading of the play—what might Shakespeare be implying about the treatment of women and what power does to gender relations. You can look at male attitudes toward women and the roles men are trapped in too.

?3?Lear has three daughters; Gloucester has two sons. Explore each character as a father, and what Shakespeare might be implying about parent-child relationships and obligations in general. You also might look at how their offspring treat them. Form a theory about family relations (and/or filial piety) as they work (and don’t work) in the play.

For this paper, you are required to quote from at least two outside sources, at least one scholarly text (more are encouraged) about King Lear in your essay. You can use any texts you want as long as come from legitimate sources—the article or book must be written by someone with an academic position (professor of English, for instance) and/or published in an academic journal. In other words, Wikipedia or www.gradesaver.com do not cut it since that information is by definition common knowledge or meant for cheating. (Wikipedia is a good place to find academic sources in the References section at the bottom of the page.)

Considerations:

  • You must quote the play or directly summarize scenes from the play at least five times. Students often get too far away from textual proof when making claims about Shakespeare.
  • You also need to quote or summarize at least two outside sources. At least one of these should be an academic article that focuses on the play. The other can be an article about your theme (insanity, filial piety, feminism, Marxism, Freudianism, etc)
  • Make sure your sentences are concise and not needlessly wordy. Cut out unneeded plot descriptions.
  • Spend at least two paragraphs at the end of your essay, before the conclusion, stepping back from the plot and scene-by-scene analysis to synthesize all your observations. Comment on the big picture message of the play. What is Shakespeare saying here?
  • Use MLA to cite sources, even when they are assigned readings. You do not need to cite Act and Scene numbers, just pages.
  • Your essay should follow 2016 MLA format and be at least five (full) pages long and no more than seven.

PHL 282 Indiana Wesleyan University Philosophy & Ethics Paper

Description

: Ethics

Getting Started

The first step in preparing your PIIP is to test how well balanced your “wheel of life” is. What are your priorities in these areas of life?

Financial

Physical Fitness

Social

Family

Emotional Growth

  • Spiritual Growth

Intellectual Growth

  • Career Enhancement

Community Service

  • Recreational

Does your investment of time and other resources match your priorities?

  • On pages 38 through 40 in Intentional Integrity, MacAdam provides a survey to help you check your life balance. Go there now and see how you score.

A life that is dreadfully out of balance for too long reflects poor decision-making. Living such a life makes it more difficult to move forward in an optimal manner.

  • Good intentions are not enough. Even with the best of intentions, we can make decisions and act in ways inconsistent with intentional integrity. As you learn more about your life, and more purposefully seek to maintain balance, you increase the chances that you will live your life with integrity.

There is another survey on pages 41 and 42 for you to rate the degree to which you function with high integrity at home and at work. Try taking the survey and see how you fare.

Resources

  • Background Information

Here is one way to think about your life purpose.

  • A purpose statement describes why you exist, and what you want to be and to do.

As you prepare to write your life purpose statement, ask yourself what YOU exist to be and to do. Do you dare ask others to state, on the basis of observing your life, how they would summarize your life purpose? You might gain new awareness of both personal strengths and weaknesses.

  • One way to help this process is to think about what you do best.

What usually goes well when you do it?

What are the passions of your life?

On what do people most frequently compliment you?

What brings you satisfaction?

Is there anything that is just “you?” You feel it. Other people recognize it.

Instructions

Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.

On page 46, MacAdam outlines four spiritual components he feels should be included in your purpose statement. Take time to reflect on these elements.

How does each of them fit into your life?

If you are not a religious person, or if you do not enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you may feel comfortable omitting these components from your life purpose statement. But do not do this lightly. Take time to consider the religious components of your life and how they figure into your life purpose.

When you have completed your Life Purpose Statement, save a copy for yourself and submit the assignment using the link below or the Activities button.
