Walden University Bivariate Correlation Analysis on Afrobarometer Dataset Discussion

Description

To prepare for this Assignment:

Review this week’s Learning Resources and media program related to regression and correlation.

Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you choose) found in the Learning Resources for this week.

Based on the dataset you chose, construct a research question that can be answered with a Pearson correlation and bivariate regression.

  • Once you perform your correlation and bivariate regression analysis, review Chapter 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document.
  • For this Assignment:
  • Write a 2- to 3-paragraph analysis of your correlation and bivariate regression results for each research question. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age). If you are using the HS Long Survey Dataset, report the mean of X1SES. Do not forget to evaluate if the correlation and bivariate regression assumptions are met and report the effect size. In your analysis, display the data for the output. Based on your results, provide an explanation of what the implications of social change might be.

MATH 120 WK 6 The Average Price of A Gallon of Gas in Your Region Analysis

Question Description

I’m working on a statistics discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.

Imagine that you want to estimate the average price of a gallon of gas in your region. You record the price of gas at 36 different gas stations (you can make these up). In your initial post, you will simply give those values, then use Excel to compute a 95% Confidence Interval for the average price. Rather than just attaching your Excel file, paste your results (or upload as an image) into the post.

  1. List all 36 gas prices in cells A1 to A36 in your excel spreadsheet.
  2. Type =average(A1:A36) to find the sample mean
  3. Type =stdev.s(A1:A36) to find the sample standard deviation
  4. Let’s assume your sample mean is 3.65 with a std of 0.43.
  5. Determine the Margin of Error (for 0.05 significance) by typing =confidence.norm(.05,.43,36). This is your E value
  6. Finally, compute the 95% Confidence Interval by adding and subtracting the Margin of error from your mean: =(3.65 + E) for the Upper bound and =(3.65 – E) for the Lower bound

Wayne State University Calculus Worksheet

Question Description

I’m working on a calculus discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

In this discussion board, you will create a graph of a function that has an x-value where the limit exists, create a graph of a function that has an x-value where the limit does not exist, and create a graph of a function that has an x-value where the limit at x is not equal to the value of the function at x.

In this unit, you learned about limits and how to evaluate them graphically. You saw instances on graphs where limits exist and do not exist. To start this discussion assignment, use desmos.com to create a graph of a function that has the following characteristics:

  • An x-value where the limit exists.
  • An x-value where the limit does not exist.
  • An x-value where the limit at x is not equal to the value of the function at x.

Virginia Tech Statistics Worksheet

Description

  1. Open the GSS data set in JASP.*
  2. Create frequency tables and bar graphs for 2 separate categorical variables (nominal, ordinal, or dichotomous). Paste those into your word document for the assignment.
  3. Create descriptive tables (including median and quartiles) and histograms for 2 separate continuous variables. Paste those into your word document for the assignment. Include written descriptions of the distributions — how are the data skewed? (explain how you know about the skew from the visual and the relationship of the mean to the median). Also talk through how to interpret the standard deviation.
  4. Create a Cross Tab analysis with two categorical variables. Paste the results into your word document. Interpret the results — does there appear to be any relationship between these variables?
  5. Create a Conditional Means analysis with a categorical and continuous variable, and paste the table into your world document. Create a box plot based on these results. Interpret the results in your own words.

R Code Project

Description

The attached data set bumpus is an excerpt from the classic data set by Bumpus (1898). It concerns the mortality of house sparrows based on several measurements. In this case survive=1 indicates the sparrow survived, survive=0 indicates it did not. The predictor variable in this case is length. [The code for conducting a logistic regression is in the handout from class.]

(1) Conduct a linear regression predicting survive from length. Show the residual plots and briefly explain how they clearly show that this is not the right analysis (just referring to the assumptions of linear regression).

(2) Conduct a logistic regression to predict the probability of surviving from length. Give the output showing the estitmated beta_0-hat and beta_1-hat.

(3) Give the equation for predicting the estimated probability of surviving from length, and the particular estimated probability for a sparrow of length 160.

RSCH 8210 WU Research Design Discussion

Description

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources and the media programs related to correlation and regression.
  • Search for and select a quantitative article specific to your discipline and related to correlation or regression. Help with this task may be found in the Course guide and assignment help linked in this week’s Learning Resources. Also, you can use as guide the Research Design Alignment Table located in this week’s Learning Resources.

By Day 3

Write a 3- to 5-paragraph critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following:

  1. What is the research design used by the authors?
  2. Why did the authors use correlation or bivariate regression?
  3. Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
  4. Did the authors display the data?
  5. Do the results stand alone? Why or why not?
  6. Did the authors report effect size? If yes, is this meaningful?

Nursing Discussion

Description

As we near the end of the term, it is important to acknowledge the waysyou obtained support so far this term. In addition, as we discuss thedifferent ways that you were able to work through the material, this mayshare ideas with others for the remainder of the term. So, for thisDiscussion, please share the different ways that you found support(technical, education, emotional, etc….) for the course.

HIs should be a substantive response (between 75 -150 words minimum)to the topic(s) in your own words, referencing (using APA format) whatyou have discovered in your required reading and other learningactivities. You may use resources in addition to your textbookthat supports your post(s); however, you must mention the source(s) thatyou used in your post(s) using APA format in-text citations andreference lists.

Critical Thinking Assignment

Using the Clinical Trial on breast cancer dataset. Perform a Kaplan-Meier Analysis to determine the survival curve for the breast cancer survivors.

H0 The risk of dying from breast cancer will occur within five years. (Null Hypothesis)

H1 The risk of dying from breast cancer does not occur within five years. (Alternative Hypothesis)

Ensure to submit the following requirements for the assignment:

Review      the analysis from the standpoint of how many patients survive over the      seven-year time period that the clinical trial covered.

Present      your findings as a Survival Time chart in a Word document, with a title      page, introduction explaining why you would conduct a survival analysis, a      discussion where you interpret the meaning of the survival analysis, and a      conclusion.

GCU Statistics Discussion

Description

Topic 3 DQ 1

You and a friend are talking about the probability of getting a heads on a single toss of a fair coin. Your friend insists that you are more likely to get a heads on a single toss of a fair coin than a tails. Is your friend correct, why or why not? If we were to toss the fair coin an infinite number of times, what would we expect?

Topic 3 DQ 2

A population distribution is standardized to produce a new distribution. What is the standardized distribution called? What information is provided by the sign (+/-) of a z-score? What information is provided by the numerical value of the z-score?
