SU The Issue of Accounting Firm Transitioning to Permanent Telecommuting Report

Description

You work for a growing accounting firm in a large city. Before the pandemic forced most workers in the organization to work from home, you were aware that the company lost several promising job applicants because they did not wish to spend two or more hours a day driving to and from work. Upon inquiring with co-workers, you discover that just over half of the firm’s current workforce commuted more than an hour each way. You’re aware of other firms and similar businesses that have implemented a permanent telecommuting option for some employees. When you bring this issue up to your boss at the next Zoom productivity meeting, she says that she’d be willing to consider transitioning to a permanent telecommuting schedule as an option for some employees but she needs more information first.

Activity

Research Report for Your Boss: At least two full pages, single spaced, plus a References page (at least three pages total). As you do research and write about this topic, remember who your primary audience is and consider what information would be most relevant to this audience so that she can make a decision about offering the workplace changes to some employees permanently. Remember, too, that this report might be read by others in the company. Your document needs to follow the genre conventions of a report, you must cite in-text every source you use every time you use it, and you must have at least these sections in this order: Executive Summary, Current Situation, Affordances and Limitations, and Conclusion.

You may choose to include other sections but you must have each of these main sections in this order:

Executive Summary: Brief summary of the main points of the report. You will probably write this section last;

Introduction: Background information and context nationally on the issues at stake, i.e. workplace productivity, environmental factors, employee satisfaction, recruiting efforts, and/or why you’re writing/recommending or not recommending this change, and anything else you think would help frame the report for your boss (“frame” = provide your boss with enough information to understand the issue and the rest of the report);

Affordances: Generate a section that discusses the most likely positive outcomes for the company/the workers/stakeholders if the company decides to make the workplace changes permanent, and how specifically the company can maximize these benefits based on the research you’ve done;

Limitations: Generate a section that discusses the possible negative outcomes if the company decides to make the workplace changes permanent, and how specifically the company can deal with and/or address these possible situations based on the research you’ve done;

  • Conclusion: Write up your formal recommendation here and provide suggestions about how to proceed with your recommendations based on the research you’ve included in the report.

Lewis University Philosophy Essay

Description

Background.  In 1949, Joseph Campbell published The Hero With a Thousand Faces, arguing that stories of mythic heroes typically follow a cyclic pattern, which he called the “monomyth” or “hero’s journey.”  His notion, that the power of heroic stories derives from this deeply-ingrained pattern, has been enormously influential to writers and interpreters of fiction – Campbell’s lectures on the Hero’s Journey, for example, famously inspired George Lucas to create Star Wars.  The notion has been considerably more controversial among scholars of mythology, who have been concerned, less with what makes a gripping yarn, than with whether the patterns of the monomyth truly reflect the history of mythology.

Question.  In an essay of 1250-1500 words (5-7 pages), evaluate the applicability of Campbell’s theory of the monomyth to the ancient hero myths we have considered.   With his “hero’s journey,” did Campbell discover a genuinely universal historical pattern, or (given its popularity with novelists and screenwriters) is the monomyth an effort to force modern standards for fictional entertainment onto the sacred stories of the past?  In addressing the question, your essay should incorporate the following elements:

What are the elements of the monomyth? Are all stages of the hero’s journey equally important?

To what extent do the stages of the monomyth correspond to our own hero myths? Are there any points where the theory doesn’t apply?  What does this mean for the applicability of the theory to the myth?

What do your findings mean for the historical validity of Campbell’s theory?

Research.  Your essay must make use of at least three peer-reviewed scholarly sources.  These sources can address a number of different questions, including:

What exactly is Campbell’s theory of the monomyth?

What kinds of criticisms have been leveled against Campbell’s theory?

Has Campbell’s theory already been applied to one or more of our hero stories? Do you think their treatment is accurate?

  • Issues. There are any number of themes that you might select, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Do some of our stories fit Campbell’s pattern better than others? What does this mean for the applicability of these myths to modern audiences?
  • The basic principle of the “hero’s journey” is that, in the end, we can learn something about our own lives from the adventures of these heroes. What are the principle lessons you see conveyed by our hero stories, and to what extent are they dependent on Campbell’s pattern?

Many of you argued that Ovid is more engaging and entertaining that Aristotle. How is the entertainment value of hero stories related to their ability to move us?

In your research, you may find strong criticisms and affirmations of Campbell’s theory. Do you think these are warranted by your reading of the texts?

University of Houston University of Houston Production of Shakespeare Play Henry V Critique

Description

write a critique about the production of this Play called Henry V that I attend to at school. I will upload an actual picture of the stage and how the actors were dressed at the beginning. There was a king of England dressed the way kings usually dress and also two ladies (actors) speaking French while acting.
I wrote the answers to the questions below ??The theme is about King Henry V. I agreed with the play’s message because the qualities that define a good person aren’t always the same as the qualities that define a good ruler. You can be a good person but as a ruler you have to make some decisions according to your obligations. The protagonist of the is king Henry V and the antagonist is Lewis,The Dauphin of France and the eldest son the king of France. Henry’s goal was to claim the throne of France as his throne because his great-great grandmother was a daughter of the king of France and to retaliate for the disrespect shown by Dauphin. The Dauphin’s goal was to capture King Henry and bring in a chariot to France. Their motivation made sense because leaders of any kingdom have the necessity to fight for their honor and dignity. The primary conflict was when Henry led his army to invade France. The best actor was the guy that played the role of king because his British accent was on point and his body language or gestures were very similar to an actual king. The was actor was the guy that played the role as the emissary from France. He seemed to be a little bit tense and he hesitated or forgot his lines. The play set contributed for my understanding of the play’s story, characters and theme by way that being readjusted or readapted to illustrate or fit any event that was taking place. The play’s costume contributed for my understanding of the play because it allowed me to distinguish between the kings , his armies members and the princess. And also allowed me to have an idea of the time or era and where all these events were taking place. The play’s lighting contributed to my understanding of play focusing on the protagonist or antagonist whenever an important event or action was happening. The play’s sound was good because I could hear loud and clear what the actors were saying and understand better the play.King Henry married the French princess to unite and claim the throne of France. The actress that played the role of French princess was amazing. His accent was excellent. I speak French too so I can assure her proficiency in French.

Capstone Background and Deliverables

Develop Predictive AI Models and Data Sets for Sports Development

Currently there are Increasing demands on sport development coaches, trainers, and health and medical personnel to identify talented individuals for specialist development across all sports. Talent identification results in the streamlining of resources to produce optimal returns from a sports investment. However, talent identification for individual and team sports is complex, and success prediction is imperfect. The aim is to develop predictive artificial intelligence models and data sets to qualify the impact of sports physiology, nutrition, psychology, and applied biomechanics impact of maturity-related differences on the long-term outcomes, particularly for track and field and female participants.

Maturation is a primary confounding variable in talent identification. Furthermore, for talent identification programs to succeed, valid and reliable data and intelligence must be qualified and accepted and implemented in a range of performance-related categories. Limited success in scientifically based talent identification is evident in a range of team sports. Genetic advances challenge the ethics of talent identification in adolescent sport. However, the environment remains a significant component of success prediction in sport.

Students will develop artificial intelligence and data models to support the following area:

  • Applied Biomechanics,
  • Sport Physiology,
  • Sport Nutrition, and
  • Sport Psychology

BC 112 Coastline Community College The Dreaded Interview Discussion

Description

The goal of this assignment is to get you thinking about how to answer common interview questions. (Strong preparation is the key to a successful interview!)

Build Workplace Skills

When you go on a job interview, it is usually a somewhat stressful situation.  But, if you are prepared with the proper skills, professional appearance and answers to the most commonly asked questions, you will have a much better chance of landing the job.

Always think strategically when answering interview questions: What are they really asking? How can I make myself look like the most attractive candidate?

For example, when asked about your greatest weakness (which is a popular question), you don’t want to talk about something really serious, like “Well, I’m a lousy speller and I tend to always say the first thing that pops into my head.” Those things may be true but they’d be red flags in an interview situation. Some people recommend using a “fake” weakness like, “Oh, I care too much about others so I’m always going above and beyond my own job to help out.” That also may be true but the interviewer will recognize it for what it is: a self-serving response. Instead, talk about an area of improvement that will make you better at the job but which isn’t absolutely crucial. If I were interviewing for an admin assistant position, I might say something like, “While I’m proficient in the Microsoft Suite of tools, I’d really like to improve my ability to create fully accessible documents.”

Here’s what I’d like you to do. Below are five of the most-asked job interview questions.

First, decide on a specific job you’d like to apply for. It can be made up but your answers will be guided by the type of job you’re going for. (Let me know what the job is, please.)

Open a Word document and write each question. Please bold it so I can distinguish the question from your answer.

Provide your best answer to the questions as if you were actually at the job interview.  An adequate answer to each question will probably require at least 75-100 words.

  1. Tell us about yourself.
  2. Why are you interested in the job?
  3. What are your greatest strengths?

What are your greatest weaknesses?

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • Tips

Do a little web research to see what recommendations experts might offer about how to answer these questions. Here are a couple of resources to get you started:

ENG 450 University of Nevada Las Vegas Effects of Horror Films Essay

Description

Instructions

1. Watch the following scene from The Sixth Sense. In the space below, describe how precisely the scene is shot and edited (acknowledging the score/sound design) to produce a sense of dread, tension, or suspense. Don’t simply describe what happens in the scene— rather, describe how the scene is crafted to elicit a specific effect.

2. Next, consider the following statement from G. Neil Martin’s peer-reviewed article “(Why) Do You Like Scary Movies? A Review of the Empirical Research on Psychological Responses to Horror Films”

“People’s enjoyment of horror can also be affected by priming. Cantor et al. (1984) found that providing adults with information about the types of events they were about to see in four horror films increased the degree of fright and upset that the participants experienced.”

3. Lastly, take a look at the All Audience reviews for the film on Rotten Tomatoes. Pay close attention to the words that (re)viewers use, e.g. “suspenseful.”

4. Craft a short paragraph in which you put all three findings in conversation with one another. You may choose to start with a quote from Martin (e.g. “Psychology researcher G. Neil Martin claims that…”) or with a strong topic sentence in which you state a claim an follow through with direct evidence.

BONUS CHALLENGE:

Consider this quotation from Stephen King’s famous mini-essay, titled “Why We Crave Horror Films”:

“The mythic horror movie, like the sick joke, has a dirty job to do. It deliberately appeals to all that is worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized . . . and it all happens, fittingly enough, in the dark. For those reasons, good liberals often shy away from horror films. For myself, I like to see the most aggressive of them – Dawn of the Dead, for instance – as lifting a trap door in the civilized forebrain and throwing a basket of raw meat to the hungry alligators swimming around in that subterranean river beneath. Why bother? Because it keeps them from getting out, man. It keeps them down there and me up here. It was Lennon and McCartney who said that all you need is love, and I would agree with that. As long as you keep the gators fed.”

Does King’s quote relate to your experience of watching horror films? Why or why not?

  • In a scene from The Sixth Sense… [describe the scene]
  • The techniques used in this scene support evidence cited by research psychologist G. Neil Martin about priming. More specifically… [explain how the idea of priming relates to scene from the film]

Saint Leo University Chapter 10 Corporate Leader Behavior Case Study Questions

Question Description

I’m working on a writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Tyler is the chief operations officer (COO) of Mining and Drilling Co., a company that manufactures equipment for the mining industry. With the CEO being heavily involved in strategy formulation, mergers and acquisitions, and company finances, Tyler is essentially in charge of running the company. With all the exploration for resources in recent years, the company is prospering.

Tyler sees a major part of his role at Mining and Drilling to be that of a leader who inspires, guides, and monitors the behavior of subordinates. At the moment, Tyler is facing what he considers to be a delicate issue. He wants to provide constructive feedback to one of his direct reports, Gus, the director of materials management. The feedback has to do with incidents he heard about Gus’s relationships with staff members. Although none of these incidents or reported incidents rumors deals with behavior that violates the code of conduct at Mining and Drilling, they suggest poor professionalism.

Sherry, an office manager, once told Tyler that Gus often stares at her in a lecherous manner. Sherry also said that Gus tends to stand about five inches from her when they have a conversation about work-related matters.

A few weeks ago, Tyler heard Garth, the IT manager, joke about how much advice and help Gus wants with his off-the-job communication technology pursuits, such as setting up a smart house and interconnecting the electronic devices in his home.

Last week Tyler asked Kaitlin, his administrative assistant, how she and her family planned to spend the weekend. Kaitlin said with a sarcastic expression on her face, “As usual, I will have to put a lot of time into deleting the dozens of text messages Gus sends me. I don’t do anything to encourage Gus, but he keeps bombarding me with silly messages. Last night he sent me five texts about cute things his dog did recently.”

Tyler was wondering how he should approach Gus about his behavior unbecoming to a company executive, yet still not in violation of company policy. “I should give Gus some feedback about these problems,” thought Tyler. “Yet I don’t want to damage my relationship with one of the key leaders at Mining and Drilling.”
1)Are the reported incidents in relation to Gus even worth the attention of a COO?

2)If you think the case describes a problem worthy of his attention, how should Tyler coach Gus about the reported incidents?3)What opening line do you recommend for Tyler if he does hold a coaching session with Gus about the incidents reported in the case?

PHL 282 Indiana Wesleyan University Psychology Ethics Essay

Description

Getting Started

Americans tend to get misty-eyed about natural wilderness areas. Most of us wish to protect these unspoiled areas that remind us of the beauty of God’s great nature.

While wilderness areas may be beautiful, even romantic, they can also be terribly hard and unforgiving places to live.

While we may enjoy driving through the great national parks of our country, not many of us would really like to live on a desert or in the forest for long.

Paved roads, electricity, plumbing, roofs that do not leak, schools, banks, gas stations – these may all be pretty mundane, but how many people would want to live without them?

What primary factor distinguishes “civilization” and the wilderness?  Purposeful and indiscriminate growth is the distinguishing factor.  In the wilderness, life just randomly continues.  Things grow where they will as long as they can. There is no purpose. There is no master plan. You make the best of things.

Food grows in the wilderness, but not where and when you want it. Farmers, on the other hand, grow food purposefully.

Many of life’s necessities and pleasures can be found somewhere in the wilderness. But only purposeful growth turns these wild things into the useful, enjoyable, and convenient features of the life that most of us want to live.

The same is true for your life of intentional integrity. Very often the difference between a wasted life and one of intentional integrity is purposeful growth.

You WILL grow. You WILL learn new skills. You WILL learn new perspectives. You WILL progress through life.

But this growth will not take you far unless you have a master plan, unless you put some structure in place. Without clear goals, your life will naturally grow into a wilderness.

You may wish to go back to the “Wheel of Life” and establish growth goals for each of those areas. MacAdam lays out a process for establishing growth goals in two major areas: your spiritual life and your career. These are the next steps for your PIIP.

Instructions

You may not feel like a very spiritually minded person. You may not be a religious person.

Nevertheless, every one of us has a spiritual life. In fact, much of your life’s activities grow out of your spiritual life. You can ignore this fact, but it remains true.

Now is your chance to think about it. Is your spiritual life a wilderness, or is there any purposeful growth taking place?

Write a paragraph or two describing how you and God could together take charge of your ongoing spiritual development.

  1. When you have completed this project, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor using the Assignment submission page.
