Assessment Description

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct research related to how a specific company utilizes information related to place and promotion to create marketing plans that will meet business needs including their specified marketing objectives, to assess and make recommendations about the marketing strategies that have been employed based upon the consumer and market research, and to communicate these findings to organizational stakeholders.

Part 1:

Continuing in the role of a marketing professional who has been tasked with completing a marketing plan for a client, refer back to the research you completed in the Topic 2 Part 1: Research and the Topic 5 Part 2: Product or Service and Price assignments. Conduct additional research related to place and promotion and use it to complete the “Marketing Plan Analysis and Presentation: Part 3 – Research Template.”

Part 2:

Add to the PowerPoint presentation you created in the Topic 5 assignment by creating five to eight additional slides that summarize your marketing plan analysis based on the research you have conducted about place and promotion. Slides should address each of the key areas listed below and should include speaker notes that explain how the company could have used what it learned about consumer behavior, product or service, and pricing to help it develop a marketing plan in order to meet the company’s marketing objectives and business needs. When creating the presentation, provide links to specific YouTube and social media site examples that illustrate the current company messaging and promotional techniques. The final presentation should provide a comprehensive look at how the brand promotes their products to customers.

Based upon what you learned from your research and strategy assessment, recommend a strategy the company could employ to increase profits and sales to the target market. Include two or three final slides that summarize and justify your strategy recommendation. For the presentation of your PowerPoint, use Loom to create a video. Include an additional slide for the Loom link at the beginning of the presentation, and an additional slide for references at the end of the presentation.

Place:

1. What forms of advertising and promotion does the company use?

1. Based upon your research findings for the marketing mix, recommend a strategy that you believe will increase profits and sales to the target market.
2. Cite your specific research findings to justify your strategy assessment and recommendations.

Purpose

For this assignment, you will develop a written script for a 3-5 minute podcast (about 450-650 words). Your podcast can be just you speaking alone, an interview with a friend or family member, a panel interview where you talk to 3 or 4 people, or even in play format with several characters.

Topic:

• College Success Skills: Write a podcast script in which you will teach your audience about college success skills. Refer to the skills you learned in the last unit (avoiding procrastination and plagiarism, learning a new writing process to avoid writer’s block, developing time management skills). Using the rhetorical devices, persuade your listeners that these skills will promote future success, .

Do Research

   2. Plan how your will incorporate and use these sources to support your ideas and to provide evidence. You will use quotations, statistics, and other salient information from these sources in your podcast.

Draft a Script

• • Beginning: Begin the script with the title and date of the podcast. Introduce the topic and the speakers in an inviting and engaging way.
  • Main Points: State, support, and persuade your audience. Use sources you find on the internet to support your opinions. Include a reference to the source within the sentence.   • Ending: End creatively.

Format the Script

• • Format the text of your script like the one you looked at for the podcast “The Haunting Effects of Going Days Without Sleep.” (Links to an external site.)
  • Sources: Add a Works Cited list at the end of your script. Include citations for all sources, including the sound bytes.
  • Sound: Find 2-3 sound bytes for your podcast. Choose sounds that are NOT copyrighted. See this Creative Commons web page of Image, Video and Audio Resources (Links to an external site.) that includes a long list of suggested sound websites. Scroll down the page to the Audio Resources section. Indicate where each sound byte will be in the script. The example I’m using is from a sitcom called “Community” released in 2009. In the clip, Abed “red shirt” talks about how he has a distain for bottle episodes and how shows like to resort to them to save time, money, or resources. It takes an idea that we as an audience are familiar with, dissects it and tells it why it’s bad/why they don’t like it and then proceeds to do it anyways. I think this relates to postmodernism because I think we often times find in life that we talk about and/or tell people what we like or dislike and a lot of the times it doesn’t matter much because they just do it anyways.

As I consider postmodernism, I think innovation. One of the most creative advertising tactics I have seen in some time was Coinbase’s debut on Super Bowl Sunday. Coinbase, a crypto currency app aired a 60 second commercial that consisted of a colorful QR code bouncing from side to side on the screen. As a result of this commercial which included no words, simply the QR code to visit Coinbase’s promotional website, the app was crashed by nearly 20 million users attempting to scan the QR code at once.

This simple, yet creative idea is what I have found postmodernism to be all about. Reinventing something that already exists to drive curiosity about a product or offering.

Following the Super Bowl Add, Coinbase executed their social media strategy by highlighting the commercial by saying “ICYMI (in case you missed it) Now that we have your attention, we’d like to announce that we’re giving away $15 in BTC to anyone who joins Coinbase by 2/15”. This post included the bouncing Coinbase logo on a black screen tying the experience back to their debut on television.

Lichtenstein’s “Whaam!” is a painting that takes a large format, featuring two parts as captioned above (Karg, 2020). The artwork is similar to a comic strip because of its onomatopoeia, speech bubbles, and motifs. Because of this, it is a postmodern work of art. it breaks the boundaries between pop culture and popular culture. Lichtenstein uses the painting to confront the classical painting methods using motifs that never existed before the modern art era. The piece does not confront World War II. Nonetheless, its presentation and the choice of the motif in pop art and aesthetics could be interpreted or perceived as an ironic review of the glorification of war. 

1) You work for a pharmaceutical company where you are assigned the task of creating new drug therapies to treat thyroid disorders such as hyperthyroidism (high levels of T3 and T4) and hypothyroidism (low levels of T3 and T4). Your team has designed a few drugs, and your job is to identify which drug(s) would be successful in treating thyroid disorders based on your knowledge of thyroid hormone synthesis. 2) During the early days of neuroscience, neurosurgeons would cut away brain segments to see how it affected the person, which enabled them to learn the function of different brain segments. Assume that the surgeons were trying to learn how respiration worked in this same manner. Which body or brain parts, if removed, would affect respiration (inhalation and exhalation)?

3)Certain villages in India are very conservative and women are required to wear clothes that completely cover their entire body. Unfortunately, these women experience bone pain, fractures, muscle weakness, and depression. Explain the relationship between their attire and the signs and symptoms they are experiencing?

4) Marie Curie was a famous French-Polish scientist known for her pioneering research on radioactivity. Her work not only brought her fame but her death as well; she developed aplastic anemia due to radiation exposure. She experienced recurrent and prolonged infections (viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal). Explain why she suffered from recurrent infections. Be sure to mention the different types of WBC and the relation to the various infections, and the reasons why she lacked the cell-mediated and the humeral response.

5) Apart from suffering from recurrent and prolonged infections, Marie Curie also experienced the following signs and symptoms: fatigue, rapid heart rate, pale skin, easy bruising, prolonged bleeding from cuts, and dizziness. Bone marrow transplant was not an option at that time and so blood transfusion was the treatment of choice. Explain the reasoning behind these other signs and symptoms that Curie experienced. Assume her blood group was A negative. Which blood groups can she receive? Which blood groups can she not receive? Explain why

     Emily Dickinson poems portrays death as the inevitable. Dickinson’s attitude towards death may be the result of her living through the tremendous casualties brought about by the Civil War and her own personal experience with the close succession of deaths of her family and friends. Dickinson’s poems about death confront its grim reality with honesty, humor, curiosity, and above all a refusal to be comforted (Levine, Dickinson 1654). After reading many of Dickinson’s poems, I wanted to focus on her poem “Because I could not stop for Death”, the emotions of the personae reflected are serenity and unpretentious. Dickinson writes, “Because I could not stop for Death – He kindly stopped for me- “(Dickinson 1676). My interpretation of these words is that the personae’s life may have been so hectic, to a point where death was not even a consideration; yet it was the personae’s fate. In the second verse, Dickinson writes “We slowly drove – He knew no haste And I had put away My labor and my leisure too, For His Civility “(Dickinson 1676). My interpretation of these words is that the personae accepted death and was able to unshackle themselves from the ordeals and triumph experienced in the secular world. In the fourth verse, Dickinson writes, “For only Gossamer, my Gown – My Tippet – only Tulle “(Dickinson 1677). My interpretation is that the personae was even prepared for the ride with Death, wearing a burial gown, which was usually a shroud or nightwear. The personae did not exhibit any fear, the only emotion that was shown was that of comfort that the carriage that contained both the personae and Death was heading towards everlasting life.
