The elements of Poetry help readers understand poetry on a structural level. When a reader approaches a poem using the elements of Poetry, the nuances can become clear. For example, when a writer uses imagery in writing a poem, this can make a part of the poem clearer. If a writer uses certain wording, this can also help for deeper understanding. This assignment will help you analyze poetry using some of the elements discussed in Chapter 6.

Instructions:

1. Read the following poems: “Death, be not proud”, “Because I Could not Stop for Death”, “Dover Beach”, and “The Road Not Taken”

2. Analyze each play for 3 elements of poetry, and write 1 paragraph of your analysis for each poem.
